Drink Diversity

So I work at McDoland's. I have noticed that people from different ethnicities have a tendency to order drinks that other ethnicities dont. It is interesting to me because something as simple as ordering a drink shows that history, and race has an effect on the concsiousness of poeple.

For example, an african american, twenty year old male walks in and orders his drink. He is likely to get Sprite, Hi-C Orange, or Mr. Pibb. Rarely does an african american male order Diet Coke. I dont think I have ever sold Bottled Water to a person described.

There are a number of different drinks available at McDonald's which include: Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Mr. Pibb, Powerade, Lemonade, Iced Tea, and Bottled Water.

Lets take a different person. A middle-aged Mexican mother. She will order a Coke. For her son she will order Sprite. Rarely do mothers let their children drink Coke. This is the opposite for fathers or lower incomes. They order Coke. My guess is because thats all they are exposed to. The Coka Cola brand is more dominant in Mexican television and advertisements than any other carbonated drink.

The explanation I have for the African Americans having a preferace to Sprite is because that is the race that Sprite was targeted to. Take Black Entertainment Television, or BET. You will find Sprite commercials more often and in those commercials an African American male will at a party, running, or playing basketball will often be shown. Music TeleVision (MTV) hosts a number of different parties and countdowns and whatnot. What is it that you see on the ad banners across the stage? Sprite.

Older Folks like Iced Tea. Maybe it is because it is smoother than carbonated drinks. Or because it is like coffee in a way. You can dress it up with sugar and lemon, or you can drink it in its pre form. It is fresh brewed an maybe that plays a role. Some older women might also as for coffee later in the day.

Asian people, they are more difficult to break down. Mostly becayse they dont usually order drinks. They tend to order A La Carte menu items, usually to save money. I thought it was the Jews that were cheap. Haha. I've never actually met a cheap Jew. So I can't be certain that that assumption about Jewish culture is true.

I was thinking about this topic today. As I was wiping the counter. Thanks for reading. Have a nice day!

Music.

(This was posted before but that blog is gone..so here it is!)

So, for the first time in my life, i feel like i have discovered music.
I have been playing guitar since the end of freshman year, and it has opened my eyes to various things. Things like composition, timing, essence, feeling, emotion, pain, excitement, and pleasure.
I dont know about the next guy..but playing my acoustic guitar gives me so much pleasure, it feels like kissing a girl you love. It fills your lungs with air, it makes your heart race, it makes your blood hot. (eric turnbull)--
I have seen people play acoustic guitar like never before. People like Eric Turnbull, Jordan O Connor, and Antoine Dufour. They opened my eyes to musical beauty. www.candyrat.com is a thing that signs artists. True artists. People who play from the heart, people who shape emotion into chords. People who make people like myself feel wonderful things.
I want to learn. I love learning. I always have. I want to take my guitar playing to the next level. I want to experience new things in music. I want to read music first of all haha.
I just bought a harmonica. After 2 hours of reading up on it, i found one that fit my budget and would grow with me...until i buy the Hohner 20. Which is like the Gibson Les Paul of Harmonicas. Electric guitar used to float my boat. But MY electric guitar, the one I loved. is out of order. I have one my dear friend gave me to use, it is a great guitar, it just doesnt inspire me because i have no history with it. I am working towards buying a new acoustic guitar.
Right now I have looked at Breedlove. Stonebridge is a new brand to me. Cant go wrong with a Martin.
My eyes are open to new musical ideas.
I am eager to pursue this urge, and find people who share it. I know i definatly need a teacher, ive gone three years without proper instruction. So i know im missing the simple begginer things.
Thanks for reading this. I just wanted to write down how i felt about this.
